Cybercrime Trends in Colombia: First Quarter of 2020

This report alerts and informs readers about the methods that cybercriminals use to carry out fraud in Colombia, with the main objective of showing what citizens and companies are facing and how they can avoid it.

  • In the first quarter of 2020, over 7,082 cybercrime complaints were filed, representing an increase of 27%, compared to the same period in 2019.
  • The most affected government entities are DIAN (57% of complaints), Attorney General's Office (12%), transit agencies (10%), National Police (9%) and Ministry of Health (7%).
  • Under the national situation of COVID-19, there has been an increase of up to 37% in cyber attacks.
